Breast Implant

Many women have breasts that did not fully develop or developed unevenly. Some have always felt their breasts were too small, and some have experienced changes in their breasts’ size and shape after pregnancy or weight change or simply as they have grown older.

Breast augmentation treatment in Mumbai is a well-established technique that is carried out through the use of implants, this surgery can increase the size of your breasts and correct uneven breasts. It may also be used to correct drooping breasts but may require an additional uplift procedure.

The implants used in breast augmentation surgery are filled with either Silicone or Saline solution. Each has its benefits and drawbacks.

Successful breast augmentation surgery begins with careful planning to meet client’s particular goals. There are several decisions to be made and our doctor will help you make them and explain you what is best for you in the long run of time.

There are three main approaches used for breast augmentation:

  • The implant may be inserted through the crease under the breast (submammary crease) using an incision approximately 5 cm long. This is the most popular technique today.
  • Access may also be gained through an incision on the inside of the nipple-areola, in the lower half, and this is suitable only when the areola as a least 3.5-4 cm in diameter.
  • A third method uses an incision in the armpit. The implant can be placed above for under the pectoral muscles, but this approach is only suitable for round implants.

Whichever the technique, the surgery will usually be done under general anaesthesia. So, the patient can feel nausea in the hours after the surgery which is normal.

The initial tapes placed during the surgery are to be left undisturbed for the first week, by which time the wound is normally healed. After this time, Micropore tape is applied to the scars for another four to six weeks.

It takes minimum 6-month time for the results to be completely revealed.

Breast Upliftment

Unlike Breast Reduction or Implant surgery, Breast Uplift does not aim to change the size of the breasts. Instead it seeks to restore the breasts to more youthful and attractive shape.

In the ideal breast, the nipple and areola are level with the centre of the upper arm. However, pregnancy, breastfeeding, weight loss and the simple passage of time can all cause breasts to droop.

As the breasts have lost their former elasticity, the only way to do this is to remove sections of slack and redundant skin, and on the inside of the breast to reshape the tissue. Breast Uplift surgery or Mastopexy in Mumbai may also be combined with breast augmentation to restore the shape of the breast.

Technically known as breast ptosis correction, breast uplift surgery usually takes about two hours. It is done under general anaesthesia and usually requires patient to have good health status.

During the procedure, skin is cut away above, below and around the nipple and areola. The breast tissue is reshaped in order to achieve a better contour and enhanced projection. The remaining skin is then stretched taut to be re-joined and the nipple is relocated.

Immediately after surgery new breasts will be apparent and bruising of its skin is also expected which generally subsides in 2-to-3 weeks.

The skin around the incisions may appear slightly frilled and the scars may get red, raised and lumpy. It can take up to 12 months to 15 months for the scars to flatten and come back to their natural texture depending on the particular healing characteristics of the patient.

As with any surgery, there is a possibility of infection after breast uplift. This is readily treated with antibiotics and dressings.

Breast Reduction

Technically known as reduction mammoplasty, breast reduction surgery removes fat, glandular tissue and skin from the breasts, leaving them smaller, lighter, lifted and firmer.

Having large, heavy breasts makes many women uncomfortable both physically and psychologically. The excess weight of large breasts may cause back and neck pain, skin irritation, skeletal deformities, even breathing difficulties.

For women with these problems, breast reduction surgery can bring significant relief. Indeed, it is one of the most successful and immediately satisfying of aesthetic procedures because it allows patients to enjoy a more active life.

Having marked the incision site pre-operatively, the surgeon removes the excess skin and glandular tissue from the breast, leaving the nipple on a stalk. The nipple is then repositioned in a lifted position.

The suture line is anchor-shaped and spreads around the nipple in its new position, downwards to the under-breast crease and then outward toward the underarm area. In some cases, depending on the amount of tissue removed, it may be possible to leave a single vertical scar. Dissolvable sutures, which will not have to be removed, are used. Dressings are then applied and the patient receives intravenous fluids for several hours.

Breast reduction surgery in Mumbai is carried out under general anaesthesia and takes approximately two hours.

During your recovery period there are several things patient should expect:

Following surgery your breasts will probably be uncomfortable, possibly painful. This is easily relieved, initially by injection and thereafter by taking mild pain killer tablets.

Bruising of the skin of the new breasts may occur and swelling of the breast tissue may cause them to appear larger than anticipated. However, this should improve noticeably in two or three weeks and settle in two to three months.

Numbness of the nipples and the surrounding skin is not uncommon in the early stages although as in any surgery, there is a possibility of infection, but this is readily treated with antibiotics and/or dressings as required.
