The eyelids are typically the first region of the face to show signs of aging. Often by the time one reaches his or her mid-thirties, the upper eyelids develop hanging skin and the lower lids build up fatty bags, which progressively creates a tired appearance. Blepharoplasty (eyelid surgery) is the name of the procedure which effectively corrects these cosmetic changes.
There are other concerns for which people consider Blepharoplasty such as-
- Excess skin obscuring the natural fold of the upper eyelids
- Loose skin hanging down from the upper eyelids, perhaps impairing vision
- A puffy appearance to the upper eyelids, making the eyes look tired
- Bags and dark circles under the eyes
- Lower eyelid droopiness
For eyelid surgery, generally the incision is hidden within the natural crease of the upper eyelid and extends slightly beyond the outside corner. Through this incision, excess skin and fatty tissue are removed. Because the incision follows the natural contour of the upper eyelid, it usually is discreet.
The procedure uses fine sutures to close the incisions which dissolve and any scarring is hidden in the natural crease of the eyelid. The complete procedure takes approximately an hour or hour and a half.
The blepharoplasty in Mumbai is not a painful procedure. Patients typically complain of a burning sensation in the eyelids one hour after the procedure. The discomfort will generally last about one hour.
The recovery for blepharoplasty in Mumbai is rather slight and the patient is allowed to return home the same day of the surgery. The patient returns to see us after 7 days. At that time, the sutures are painlessly removed. From that point on, any bruising will start to quickly subside. About 70% of the swelling resolves in the first 2 weeks. The remainder takes about 2 months to resolve.
