At birth or soon after, a vascular or pigmented birthmark can appear anywhere on the body. There are a variety of birthmarks, some of which are responsive to laser or Intense Pulse Light (IPL) therapy. The two main categories of birthmarks are vascular and pigmented. These imperfections are called hemangiomas and are consist of tiny blood vessels that are clustered together. Port Wine stains of a deep red, blue or purple are the most common of these, and although previously difficult to treat, are now responding to laser therapy.
At our clinic after a session of consultation and examination, our dermatologist will evaluate your birthmark and design treatment options that suit your skin type.
